Description of Disciplines |
|
Yoga Hatha- Ha means sun and tha means moon which together, bring balance. The poses in this technique are held for longer breaths. This allows the student to bring focus to the alignment and to take the pose to a deeper level. As a result it will build strength in the in the body at the same time it opens tightness. Vinyasa- There is more of a flow in this technique. Here the body moves to the breath . While there is still great emphasis on alignment and strength vinyasa also builds stamina. Of all the techniques this is the most aerobic. Restorative- This is wonderful to practice after a very stressful week or after an injury. Props are used to support the poses. Each pose is held for longer periods of time to allow the body to completely let go. There is a deep release that is very profound in this discipline that connects the mind, body, and soul. |
