Text Box: Place blocks to make an upside down “T.”
Begin to lie down with the horizontal block supporting the shoulder blades and continue down so that the neck and head rest on the vertical block. Adjust the level of the block to a place that is comfortable.
If you are using a bolster, lay back on it so that it lines up with the spine.
Extend legs along the floor or to open the hips, bring the feet together and let the knees open to the side.
Stay here for at least ten breaths. Placing an eye pillow will do wonders in this pose.
If you are working with your partner; help ground them by rubbing their feet or ease their mind by gently massaging their temples.
While you are in these poses, let the floor and the blocks support the back body so that you can open the front body. Once you are in a place you feel safe it will be easier to give.

Find the freedom of the heart so that you feel the joy to give even more love!

Text Box: Happy New Year!!! If you are still in search of a New Year’s Resolution, here’s one……
		Take Care of Yourself!!!
Text Box: Big Apple Core News
Text Box: Move Your Core NY
Text Box: Enjoy this blissful pose for at least 10 breaths. To make it extra yummy, place an eye pillow over the eyes. If you are helping your partner in this pose, gently hold the legs to keep the alignment as they breath deeper into the pose. This will help them widen the back of the pelvis.
To come out, lift hips gently to remove blocks from underneath. Release the pelvis to the floor. Allow the back to adjust on the floor for a few breaths.
Text Box: Begin lying on your back, feet flat on the floor with the knees bent.
Lift hips so that you can place blocks under the sacrum (the flat triangle in the back of your pelvis) Align knees over ankles, feet flat on the floor.
Arms can be alongside the body on the floor or to open shoulders extend them over your head on the floor.

Yoga Pose:      Restorative Bridge

You will need 2 yoga blocks (did you remember to buy them for the holidays?) or a stack of books will do just fine.

This is such a good pose to relieve lower back tension and to realign the sacrum after a long day of sitting or even standing.

Yoga Pose:     Supported Backbend

Again, you will need 2 yoga blocks or a bolster. This is a treat to open the upper body, shoulders and chest, after a long day of sitting at a computer.

Word for Thought

“When you are loved, you can do anything in creation. When you are loved, there’s no need at all to understand what is happening because everything is happening within you.”

-Paulo Coelho from The Alchemist

Last week, my husband was in the middle of a crazy chaotic work week. Stressed and with the end nowhere in sight, I thought it would be nice to make him dinner . So I put on my apron and got to work!

The roasted veggies smelled delightful and it was time to warm up the beans for our burritos. As I opened the can of beans I cut myself on the can top. Ouch! It was pretty bad.

My husband ran to the rescue and insisted we go to the Emergency Room. I said “Oh no, it’s not that bad I

don’t have to go . . . well, I’ll go but you don’t have to go with me, you’re so busy with work . . . ” But he did anyway and held my good hand the whole time. My hero! Plus, he was able to make his deadline at work!

We make sacrifices for our loved ones everyday but we never get to pause and really appreciate them enough. The heroes/heroines are only revealed during times of stress and drama. This year, why not make an effort to recognize these qualities even during the quiet moments.
